Prior to Work done
This was an extensive reconstruction involving a reinforced ring beam to carry the new roof structure. Walls were underpinned and supported with a reinforced structural ground floor slab. A thermal block wall with insulation was constructed around the perimeter to enhance the heat retention. The roof had a spliced structural beam to which the new roof rafters were sat on. The roof coverings were natural slate and a reclaimed ridge tile was installed. Outer walls were repointed and rendered with lime mortar with the provision of integral bat boxes being built within the structure. The development was powered by solar panels and a backup generator housed within a small structure independent of the dwelling. A bore hole was installed for access to water with a filtration system. A wood burner was installed for heating and aesthetics. Hot water and secondary heating was powered by a gas boiler run off a twin bottle system. The gas also was a supply for the oven and hob. Sewage is taken to a septic tank within the dwelling’s grounds filtering into soakaways.
